A factory’s production line needs to be up all the time. Not only does this enhance the productivity and maximize the returns, but it also ensures that lots of time and money are saved. However, this is easier said than done. In order to make this possible, you need to plan it well in advance. In fact most companies use only the best quality conveyor components to avoid any hassles later on.
There are several components that we are talking about over here. Let us look at some of them in detail.
Conveyor controls
Conveyor controls encompasses of several sub components like the safety equipments, conveyor monitoring equipment and belt control equipment.
Safety Equipment: These include a safety stop control which is a positive shut off system for dangerous equipments in time of an emergency, a safety stop control system with a cable break detection technology and a compact safety stop control. The compact version has two control systems. One breaks the circuit while the other one activates an alarm that indicates that there is an emergency shutdown.
Conveyor Monitoring Equipment: These have some really useful components like the damaged belt detector. This is a completely automated device that scans the conveyor belt for any sort or tear or puncture or damage. When the damage is detected, it automatically shuts down the system to minimize the damage to the belt. You can also use the remote monitoring module for monitoring all the field devices. The belt alignment control also falls in the same category of devices.
Controls: Last but not the least we have the conveyor belt controls that can be used to control the speed, the presence of material and the alignment of the belt.
When you use these high quality conveyor components, it will give you a production line with negligible downtime.

1In china According to the material of belt, there are eleven kinds of belt conveyor. They are:
Nylon Conveyor Belt
Polyester Conveyor Belt
Flame Resistant Conveyor Belt
High Temperature Resistant Conveyor Belt
Oil Resistant Conveyor Belt
Pipe Conveyor Belt Patterned Conveyor Belt
Steel Mesh Conveyor Belt
Side Wall Conveyor Belt
Steel Cord Conveyor Belt
Heat Resistant Conveyor Belt

2You are right when it comes to selecting the best components when you build a piece of automation equipment. You mention that most companies also use quality components. You may be right when it comes to controls BUT, and I say But, other components come into play as well. I will mention the two most common pitfall when it comes to design using quality. For example, Look at a simple roller type conveyor, could be gravity, Line shaft, chain drive or even belt(or O-Ring) driven Live rollers. What we have found, is that some companies have found ways to get their prices down no even looking at the long term effects using low end bearing on the rollers. If you have a high speed roller conveyor the bearings are the very first thing to go if they are low end. You need to ensure that a precision quality bearing say a 6002ZZ ABEC-1. This bearing is ready to be run at high speeds. Yet we find that we are forever helping companies out by replacing their Line Shaft rollers with our standard roller which has the mentioned bearing in it.
Another pit fall is the belt on a conveyor. Again companies out there are trying hard to lower the price of the Slider Bed (or Belt) conveyor they sell. I could mention the bearings and the quality of the rollers again but I want to mention the belt selection. If you care about the company you are dealing with you need to ensure you know what the conditions are that the conveyor is being exposed to and not just what is being conveyed. Again we need to find out as much info as possible before you can even design the conveyor let alone what type of belt he needs. I don’t mean just the product either, you need for example to find out where the conveyor is going to be placed, (could be close to a heat source). You need to know if there is a likely hood of other in house equipment possibly coming in contact with the conveyor, or could forklift bump into it?. Anyway my point here is you need to gather as much info as possible. The belt is a easy way to cut hundreds or thousands of dollars off the cost of the Slider Bed Conveyor. You really should recommend a plastic modular belt, as the conveyor and belt are exposed to wash downs. Or you really should have put a Polyurethane covered belt on as the part can not come off line or there is a small incline and the part may slip. So yes you are right components are very important when it comes to the design. If more companies sold their products on quality and NOT on price then more and more companies will get what they need and Not what they were sold on.
Thanks to all who read this. If there is anyone who needs help before they select a supplier, we would be more than willing to spec out their requirements so when they send out the RFQ, at least they will get an apples to apples comparison.
